Frequently Asked Questions
A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of thinking, memory, attention, problem-solving, and other cognitive abilities. It involves an interview, standardized testing, and review of relevant information to better understand cognitive strengths and challenges. Results are used to answer specific referral questions and provide practical recommendations that support everyday functioning, school, work, medical decision-making, or legal needs.
A neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in how brain function relates to behavior, cognition, and daily functioning. Neuropsychologists complete advanced education and training in the assessment and interpretation of cognitive and psychological processes, often working in medical, rehabilitation, forensic, and specialty care settings.
A neuropsychological evaluation focuses on cognition and brain-behavior relationships, while a psychological evaluation typically focuses more on emotional and mental health concerns.
